We
will use the ASA approved bat list. Go to www.asasoftball.com
for a complete list
of legal and non-legal bats. If at anytime a bat is added to the non-legal
list it will be banned from our league at that time. If a model bat is not
on the list at the concession stand and you feel it is non-legal, please provide
documentation or a web site which contains the said information.
Any
player caught using an illegal bat based on
the documentation at the concession stand, will be ejected from
that game and the next one. That player will be an out each time
they come up in the batting order if they cannot be replaced
with an extra player. (See Alerted Bat Rule section below)
Game Play
Home Run Rule – 3
and 1 up; No touch home runs
Run
Rule – 20 after 3; 15 after 4 & 12 after
5. Home team gets to bat if needed.
No stealing
Count – 1-1 count to start
Courtesy Runner – Can
use one and must be designated before the
game.
Twelve (12) batter maximum,
one or two extra hitters (EH), but you do
not HAVE to use EHs.
But however many you start with, you must finish with.
A team can play with 8 players minimum.
Player must play in at least two games to be playoff eligible.
Line up cards must be collected
by umpires. Game cannot start without a line up card.
Roster - 20 players maximum. Township needs full name, address, and phone
number of all players. Rosters due March 24.
Game times – 6:30/7:30pm.
There is only a 15-minute grace period for the 6:30pm game.
Safety – Insurance covers coaches, sponsors, umpires
and township from being sued for batted or thrown balls and injuries during
or between games under the rules of ASA and Palmer Softball. NO KIDS UNDER
12 YOA IN THE DUGOUT. ALL PLAYERS, COACHES AND FANS IN DUGOUT ARE THERE AT THEIR
OWN RISK.
In extra innings - When
the visiting team starts the 8th inning,
the
last out of the seventh inning will start
the eighth inning on 2nd base. This will
continue with the home team in the bottom
of the eighth and continue for any innings
for the rest of the game.
Forfeits – If
a team forfeits 2 games without calling by
4pm on game day they may be kicked out of
the league with no refund of monies. Board decision.

Altered Bat Rule
If someone feels that someone is using an altered bat they must:
1) Notify the coach or manager of their own team
2) That coach/mgr must notify the umpire to record person and bat type
3) Coach and umpire must notify Bill Raven or Bob Brooks
4) Bill or Bob will meet with player to discuss issue and have them sign
the PSA Responsibility Waiver (listed below). The waiver indemnifies all
officers, umpires and the township from any litigation due to injury. This
waiver
does not indemnify the player’s coach or sponsor.
The bat will not be confiscated until one of the following occurs:
If an injury occurs from a batted ball off the bat in question. If the injured
player wants to pursue investigation, the bat will be sent to the ASA office
and/or manufacturer for analysis. If the bat has been determined to be altered,
the said player will be suspended for one year from the Palmer Softball Association
and turned over to local authorities for prosecution to the fullest extent.
Note: If injured player does not want to pursue investigation, the bat will
not be confiscated.
PSA Responsibility Waiver
The undersigned Palmer Softball Association player admits that they use a
bat that has been questioned as altered. The Palmer Softball Association
has given me the choice to discontinue using the bat in question.
If I choose to continue to use this bat and an injury occurs due to use of
it, Palmer Softball Association’s officers, umpires and the Township
of Palmer bear no responsibility for any repercussions, be it legal or medical,
caused by an injury related to using the bat in question.PSA indemnification
statement:I state that the bat in question, listed below, is not altered
in any way.

who has made 14 games will be playoff
eligible. Games will be tallied monthly
and player eligibility will be posted on our
Web site. Objections must be proven with official
PSA scorebook within five days,

roster of each team. Each coach is to highlight
or check the players who are playing that night.
The line up cards will be collected by umpires.

league at that time. If a model bat is not on the list at the
concession stand and you feel it is non-legal, please provide
documentation or a web site which contains the said information.
Any

using an altered or painted bat will be banned for life from
our league
and will be turned over to the authorities

ALCOHOL IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN ON THE FIELD OF PLAY AND BENCHES AT ANY TIME.

COACHES AND FANS IN DUGOUT ARE THERE AT THEIR OWN RISK. WATCH OUT for batted

Monday through
Friday, beginning September 8, 2008. Doubleheaders
start at 6:30pm, with a 15 minute grace period for first game only.
Ten teams in two divisions. Divisions are not split by level of play.
You will play the teams in your division four times (two doubleheaders) and the
teams in the other division two times (one doubleheader) for a total of 26 games.
Playoffs
All teams make
the final playoff double elimination tournament on Saturday,
November 1st. Rain date is Sunday November 2nd.
Seeding will go by best overall record. Tie breakers will be determined by 1)
head to head record, 2) record within division, 3) record versus other division
and 4) coin flip
